On spreadsheets
A spreadsheet is the only language a finance person and an engineer can both fluently read without translation. Every other format — a PDF memo, a SQL query, a chart in a deck — privileges one or the other.
This is why every serious financial product eventually has to ship an Excel export, even when the engineers hate it. The Excel export is not a feature. It is a treaty.
